Alaska Mayor announces May 28 Azerbaijan's National Day

The territorial integrity and state sovereignty are unconditionally recognized by USA since 1992.

Mayor of Anchorage (the capital of Alaska state) Mark Begich issued a Declaration proclaiming May 28 the Azerbaijani National Day.” According to the representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora in Alaska , the text of Declaration read that on May 28, 1918the Republic of Azerbaijan was proclaimed and became the first secular democratic republic in the Muslim world, and was recognized by other democratic nations, including the United States of America. The territorial integrity and state sovereignty are unconditionally recognized by USA since 1992.
The Republic of Azerbaijan is aspiring to integrate with the Euro-Atlantic community and in an active member of NATO Partnership for Peace Program, and the Azerbaijani troops participate side-by-side with Americans in the peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, I , Mark Begich , Mayor of Anchorage , Alaska, do hereby proclaim May 28, 2008 as Azerbaijani National Day in Anchorage, and encourage all residents to join me in congratulating Azerbaijani citizens who live in Anchorage and in other parts of Alaska in observance of their national day, the Declaration read.
